Jonas Freers grew up in Northern Germany. A student of Steiner philosophy, he spent his childhood learning about nature, building, sustainability, and the freedom to explore his interests and creative expression. A degree in International relations sparked his interest in foreign cultures, which he explored by working for multinational NGOs, as a freelancer and political advisor. Months after settling in San Marcos and with the arrival of his first son, his climbing tours quickly became the number 1 thing to do in San Marcos. His authentic and charismatic presence inspires those around him to step into their full potential. His passion and devotion to his children and his work leave a heartening impression. He has a true thirst for adventure and is dedicated to sharing it with all those around him. Join him for climbing expeditions, bouldering, hikes, and SUP tours.

Born and raised in Australia, Michelle had spent her lifetime crafting her acrobatic and performance skills. She landed in San Macros after ending her professional career as an acrobat for Cirque Du Soleil back in 2017. Now a mother of two boys (Bodhi and Charlie) she also embodies the loving mother / caretaker of Venga Atitlan. Her kind and uplifting presence makes those around her feel held and safe. She is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and deep understanding of the body and its biomechanics through the platforms of Yoga and Acrobatics. She truly believes a deeper understanding into the physical body through safe practices will increase confidence, mental wellbeing, and offer a baseline from which to make healthier lifestyle choices. Join her for Aerials, Yoga, Handstand workshops, bouldering or running around the property with her kids!

Bodhi and Charlie are our two smallest Venga guides and most likely the blondest Guatemalans you will find in the entire country. They love meeting new people, showing you around the premises, and are always available for laughs and giggles. Both kids were born here at the lake (Bodhi in Santiago Atitlan and Charlie in Panajachel) and have been deeply immersed with the people, culture, and customs of San Marcos La Laguna. Whereas Charlie is slowly starting to learn how to set one foot in front of the other, Bodhi is already going to a local Steiner school in town. If you have the space to listen, you might learn something from these two friendly sharers of wisdom.

SONIA

Sonia joined Venga in 2019 and has played a vital role in developing our platform into what it is today. Born and raised in San Marcos, she worked different jobs before finding her way to our little lakefront paradise and becoming a loved family member. She has incredible attention to detail and an incessant need for making sure guests feel comfortable. Her dedication and hard work goes hardly unnoticed by all who spend time at the Venga residence. Make sure to say hi, introduce yourself, and enjoy her uplifting energy.

CANDELARIA

Candelaria was also born and raised in San Marcos and joined the Venga family more recently. Her glowing smile and soft nature radiates to everyone who is lucky to meet with her. She has an innate sense of cleanliness and hygiene which everyone is so grateful for. She shows up everyday with an inspiring approach to life.

Raised in a community of local agriculture, he has spent many of his years working on permaculture farms around the lake. His relationship with the plants is a fascination to witness.
